A memorable speech
The memorable speech was delivered as the commencement address to the graduates of The University of Texas at Austin on May 17, 2014 by Naval Adm. William H. McRaven, ninth commander of U.S. Special Operations Command.
He urged graduates to find the courage to change the world.
It has been hailed as one of the greatest motivational speeches of the modern era. (Please take a moment to listen to it if you haven't had the chance yet (it’s widely available on Youtube),
Adm. McRaven, a retired U.S. Navy four-star admiral, actually oversaw the 2011 raid in Pakistan that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden, and also commanded troops that captured Saddam Hussein.
A keynote talk that resonated with me
Fast-forward to this year, I had the opportunity to hear his keynote speech at a recent medical conference. It was electrifying and set the stage for multiple leadership lessons.

Nano Leadership Tip #1 : Make your Bed !
Adm. McRaven's speech emphasizes that making your bed every morning is a simple yet powerful act.
This small task can set the tone for the rest of your day, instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment that encourages you to complete other tasks with similar dedication.
In the larger context of leadership, it's a reminder that attention to detail and discipline in small matters can lead to greater success and achievement in larger endeavors.
By starting your day with a completed task, no matter how small, you create positive momentum that can influence your entire day.
Conclusion…. just do it, it will lead to bigger achievements
(or at least you will come home to a made bed)
